Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the 11th match of the Women's Premier League. Batting first after losing the toss, Bangalore scored 150 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi reached the target of losing four wickets in 19.4 overs.
This is the fifth defeat in a row for the Bangalore team. The team is yet to win a single match in this league and is at the bottom fifth position in the points table. At the same time, this was the Delhi team's fourth win in five matches. They have lost their only game against Mumbai. Delhi's team is second in the points table. They have eight digits.
Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore set a target of 151 runs against Delhi Capitals. RCB scored 150 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Ellis Perry played an unbeaten knock of 67 off 52 balls for Bengaluru. Apart from this, Richa Ghosh scored 37 runs in 16 balls. Apart from these two, not a single batsman could do anything special.
Bangalore got off to a poor start. Skipper Smriti Mandhana failed once again and was dismissed for eight runs off 15 balls. After this, Sophie Devine was also dismissed for 21 runs off 19 balls. Meg Lanning and Alice Capsey then put on a 44-run partnership for the second wicket. Capsey was dismissed for 38 runs in 24 balls with the help of eight fours. Skipper Meg Lanning could not do anything special and was dismissed for 15 off 18 balls. Jemima Rodrigues and Marijane Kapp then shared a partnership of 39 runs for the fourth wicket.
Jemima was dismissed for 32 off 28 balls. After this, Cap and Jess Jonassen combined to give the Delhi team a win. Delhi needed nine runs in the last over to win. Renuka Singh scored two runs off the first two balls. Jonassen hits a six off the third ball. On the fourth ball, Jonassen hit a boundary to give the team victory. Marijane Kapp scored 32 not out in 32 balls and Jonassen scored 29 not out in 15 balls. She was honoured with the man of the match award. Asha Shobhana took two wickets for Bangalore. Meanwhile, Megan Schutt and Preeti Bose got one wicket each.
Tomorrow Mumbai vs Gujarat match will be played at 7:30 PM at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Mumbai will look to retain their top spot in the points table while Gujarat will be looking hard for their second win.
