Various events are taking place in Ahmednagar. Meherbaba traveled the world but he chose the land of Ahmednagar and settled here. He used to live in an ashram at Pimpalgaon Malvi on Wambori road near Ahmednagar. His mausoleum is located at Meherbad here in Arangaon. Ahmednagar district is world famous as the district of saints. Here many incarnated men, who have become saints, have given the message that all religions are one. A similar incarnation of Meher Baba took place in Ahmednagar. Today there are numerous devotees of him not only in India but also abroad and there are also numerous ashrams. Avatar Meherbaba used to say that he loved all religions, worshiped all religions, but he did not belong to any religion, nor did he want to create any new religion and separate man from man and create confusion among them.
Meher Baba was born in Pune. Born on 25 February 1894. After college, he turned to the spiritual field. Sai Baba of Shirdi, Upasani Maharaj of Sakuri, Hazrat Babajan of Pune, Tajuddin Baba of Nagpur, Narayan Maharaj of Kedgaon Island near Daund were his spiritual masters. He further traveled around the world giving the message of humanity to people of all castes and religions. He worked with Rashtrasant Gadge Baba.
Baba first came to Ahmednagar in 1923. A seven-color flag was hoisted on his hut at Arangaon (Meherabad) as a symbol of all religions. He started a charitable hospital and a free school in 1925 at this place. From 10th July 1925 till 31st January 1969, Maunvrat was observed for 44 years by Baba. During this time he did not talk to anyone. He traveled the world to many places in India and 13 times for spiritual preaching.
He wrote books like God's Speak, Listen Humanity, Perfect Master, Avatar etc. Baba had told his devotees that no matter where I pass away in the world, my samadhi should be built in Arangon (Meherabad). This place is now famous as Meherabad. He spent his last days at Pimpalgaon Malvi (Meherazad). His death was there. Mahanirvana happened on January 31, 1969. His mausoleum was built at Meherabad.
Avatar Meherbaba Trust's Avatar Meherbaba Center is located on Kingsroad in Ahmednagar. All affairs are looked after from this place. Various programs are also presented here. Baba has many ashrams abroad too. There are 400 centers in 30 countries like America, Australia, Great Britain, Iran, and 2500 centers in India.
All the centers of the world are known to each other as Jai Meher Baba. Every Saturday evening at the center in Ahmednagar. There were sermons and aarti on Baba's life. 7 am and 7 pm at Meherabad. Baba's aarti and bhajan are said. Religious programs are shown once a week, religious films, plays, dramas are shown on Saturdays or Sundays.
Each center celebrates various festivals every year. In this date On 10th July, the ceremony of silence is observed for 24 hours. This festival is celebrated as Meher Baba started silence on 10 July 1925. 16th October is celebrated as New Life Festival. On October 16, 1949, Baba traveled on foot for two years as a new life. Hence Babapremi walk from Ahmednagar to Meherabad. Baba's Amartithi ceremony is celebrated on 31st January only in Meherabad.Baba's Mahanirvana took place on 31 Jan 1969, hence this day is celebrated. Baba's birthday on February 25 is widely celebrated in every center. Ahmednagar Center offers various programs. Flag hoisting, prayer, aarti, various Indian and foreign Baba lovers singing and playing programs, various Gundarshan programs are held in it. This year only Janmatsav will be held and it will be held in virtual mode. His devotees believe that Meher Baba is the incarnation of Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Prophet Muhammad after him. Each of his devotees use symbols of all religions as auspicious. These symbols of all religions are on the emblem of the trust.
