Shirdi Road in Savedi i.e. Manmad highway in front of Kohinoor Mall, the first of its kind in the district, has been exposed again as the water ponds have accumulated again in the third rain today. Due to the destruction of the natural streams in the city by the corrupt leaders, greedy builder lobby, and corrupt administration, all the water is seen entering the highways, roads, and various urban settlements during the monsoon season.
Rayat Samachar reported about the rainwater accumulating on the highway in front of Kohinoor after the first rains, and the drivers and people travelling. On 16th April 2023, 'What is the secret of the rainwater accumulating on the state highway in front of Kohinoor Mall?' Rayat Samachar published a detailed report under this headline.
After reading this news, the officials of the Public Works Department spent lakhs of rupees and made temporary repairs by laying red carpets at the door of Kohinoor, laying cement pipelines, and constructing a large chamber. Due to the construction of pipe sewers and chambers within the limits of the highway, they could not work at full capacity due to heavy traffic. It would have crumbled at any time. Today, the third rain again in front of Kohinoor Mall, a large amount of rainwater ponds were creating an obstruction to traffic. Some vehicles were stuck in the water at this place. Some citizens were seen pushing the locked bikes out of the water. Citizens had a big problem due to heavy rains.
At this place, there was a small checkpoint on the highway to allow the rainwater to flow. That corrupt administration was destroyed by the exploits of the greedy builder lobby, and all the rainwater accumulated on the highway. To remove it, the people of Kohinoor and surrounding areas had to break down the heavy cement concrete dividers on the highway. When the representatives of Rayat went to take the shooting while breaking the divider, those who broke the divider took off from there. Those who cause financial loss by breaking the dividers should be charged for causing damage to public property and recover the expenses.
Rainwater seeps into highways, roads, and urban settlements due to the destruction of natural water sources by the ravages of development. Therefore, Rayat Parivar demands that the administration should cancel the destroyed layouts, and construction permits and restore the natural flowing streams.
